The apostle Paul wrote under inspiration of the Holy Spirit,“Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?” 2 Corinthians 6:14, 15.
Today the vast majority of professed Christians have assimilated the world and a difference is not recognizable between those who profess to be followers of Christ and the ungodly. How has this blending of light and darkness come about?
In the world of biology, we are given the example of a frog, that when placed into boiling water, will immediately jump out. However, if that same frog is pout into a kettle of cool water which is slowly heated, the frog will eventually boil to death. Now, this may sound like a cruel analogy, but it is most fitting for the spiritual climate in which we find most professed Christians today. Error has been subtly introduced into the churches, and like the frog, people are becoming accustomed to it. We are living in a time of crisis. Many souls will lose eternal life if the truth of God’s Word is not spoken in holy boldness.
In Revelation 14:6-12 we find a message that is applicable right now. It is God’s last warning message to the inhabitants of this world.: “And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people, Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters. And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication. And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name. Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.”
In these verses we see the conflict between righteousness and unrighteousness, between light and darkness and between Christ and Belial. Satan is desperate because he knows that those who heed these messages will recognize his deceptions and will be found among the saints when Jesus returns.
These messages are indeed “everlasting” because they have to do with eternal truths. The message of the first angel calls attentions to God and requires loyalty, allegiance and service. It asks us to glorify Him by honoring Him and attributing all power to Him, for His marvelous grace which enables us to live consistent Christian lives. This message asks us to worship God as Creator. This is especially significant, since the lamb-like beast (Revelation 13:11) will be causing the inhabitants of earth to worship the beast upon the first day of the week in opposition to God’s people, who will continue to worship God on the Bible Sabbath, the seventh day of the week. It is the fourth commandment which reveals God’s role as Creator. As our Creator God expects us to worship Him on the day He “blessed” and “sanctified” (Genesis 2:3).
The second angel’s message depicts Christ as victorious over the great world-wide system of the beast. In earth’s final hour people are called upon to make a choice as to whom they will give their allegiance. All will make a decision either to serve God or the man of sin. There will be no neutral position.
The angel’s message of Revelation 18:1-4 joins the three angel’s messages of Revelation 14.“And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory. And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird. For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies. And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.” Revelation 18”1-4.
If you reject this message or determine that you will obey at another time more convenient, you reject the Author of this message. In trampling upon the law of God, you deny the authority of the Lawgiver.
“We are living in the most solemn period of this world’s history. The destiny of earth’s teeming multitudes is about to be decided. Our own future well-being and also the salvation of other souls, depend upon the course which we now pursue.” Great Controversy, pg. 601.
The third angel makes it very clear that those who refuse to separate from all apostate churches which God calls Babylon, and repent and worship God on the day He calls “…the Sabbath of the Lord thy God” (Exodus 20:10) will suffer the doom mentioned in Revelation 14:10-11. They will be the objects of the unmingled wrath of God.
We are without doubt living on probationary time. It is time for God’s professed people to cry aloud, to spare not. It is time to present the messages of Revelation 14 and 18 with all holy boldness.
“Satan has devised a state of things whereby the proclamation of the third angel’s message shall be bound about. We must beware of his plans and methods. There must be no toning down of the truth, no muffling of the message for this time. The third angel’s message must be strengthened and confirmed. The eighteenth chapter of Revelation reveals the importance of presenting the truth in no measured terms, but with boldness and power…There has been too much beating about the bush in the proclamation of the third angel’s message. The message has not be given as clearly and distinctly as it should have been.” Manuscript 16, 1900.
If the church you are attending does not worship God on His day – the seventh day Sabbath – you, dear reader, had better heed this call to come out of Babylon! And friend, if you go to a church that worships on the seventh day Sabbath but they have introduced worldly ideas and have conformed to worldly policy, you are still in Babylon and time is running out for you to obey God’s call to ‘come out of her, My people.’
We are now entering the final controversy between Satan and his agents, and Christ and His followers. Satan’s agents, transformed into ministers of righteousness (2 Corinthians 11:15) are keeping the people looking to their church denominations for salvation. Their eyes are fixed on man and on an earthly corrupt church – Babylon. But God’s true followers are pointing the people upward to heaven, telling everyone to fix their eyes on Jesus and the heavenly Jerusalem. God’s people are trying to get those still in Babylon to rid themselves of this earthly idea that salvation is found in a church structure. Christ is the way, the truth and the life. We must reflect His image, and only by striving to conform, by the power of the Holy Spirit, our lives to the character of Christ, do we become a part of God’s church.
Some reading this editorial will heed God’s final warning message, but sadly the vast majority will walk away, turning a deaf ear to the truth, and the message to the Laodicean church describes their condition: “Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou are wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked… I will spue thee out of My mouth.” Revelation 3:17, 16.
Will you obey this call from the Lord to separate from all that is Babylon and join God and His true followers in raising the cry that Babylon the great is fallen, that the hour of God’s judgement is come, and encourage all to pledge allegiance to God before His wrath is poured out? It will not be easy, but God has promised that He will be the support of all who remain loyal to Him and who in holy boldness declare His final warning message.
“I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people that have set themselves against me round about.” Psalms 3:6. “…The Lord will hear when I call unto Him.” Psalms 4:3.Claim these promises. God will surely fulfill them to you if you are faithful.
Many are now working with Satan to suppress this message of God. This only tells us that Satan is desperate and know his days are numbered. All of Satan’s agents cannot keep this message from being heard and accepted by the honest in heart.
“By these solemn warnings the people will be stirred. Thousands upon thousands have never listened to words like these. In amazement they hear the testimony that Babylon is the church, fallen because of her errors and sins, because of her rejection of the truth sent to her from Heaven.” Spirit of Prophecy, Vol. 4, pg. 424.
This prophetic statement is taking place right now. Where will you stand? On which side of the battle will you be fighting – under the blood stained banner of Jesus Christ, or under the banner of the prince of darkness? Under whose leadership will you come under, whose orders will you obey – Christ or Belial’s? At this late date with Jesus soon to complete His work in the Most Holy of the heavenly sanctuary, your choice will decide your eternal destiny!
